About us
We are a company specializing in the development of infrastructure projects in the energy and natural gas sector, with a particular focus on the implementation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. Our experience covers all stages of a project's lifecycle, from origination to start-up.
Our approach and experience
We structure projects under the Project Finance model, a scheme that demands high rigor in the evaluation of environmental, social, commercial, regulatory and technical aspects, in line with the strict standards of international financial institutions and multilateral banks that finance long-term loans.
Our founder, José Luis Montes, has over 20 years of experience in the structuring and development of natural gas and LNG infrastructure projects, as well as in the generation of electricity through photovoltaic and natural gas sources. His career includes negotiating regasification service contracts, marketing natural gas and LNG, floating and storage infrastructure such as FSRUs and FSUs, developing LNG import terminals, EPC contracts, and transporting natural gas by pipelines and tanker trucks.
Project highlights
Our track record includes emblematic projects, such as the first LNG regasification terminal in Colombia, SPEC LNG, located in Cartagena. Under the leadership of our founder, this project evolved from an idea to become one of the most important milestones in the country's natural gas and electric power industry. SPEC LNG has ensured the reliable supply of natural gas to Colombia's main thermal generators, supporting the National Interconnected System (NIS) both in periods of low hydrological contributions and in situations of restrictions in the natural gas market due to production limitations in key fields.
Our Present and Future
Currently, Keystone advises companies interested in exploring and developing LNG import projects in both the Colombian Pacific and the Atlantic Coast. We are confident that our experience will be key to successfully completing a second regasification plant in Colombia, contributing to the strengthening of the country's energy security.
